Support Network

In the words of The Beatles “I get by with a little help from my friends”, but sometimes those friends are in another city, timezone or simply out of the loop with the realities of what you might be dealing with at your work. Work-related stress is one of the (if not the) most commonly experienced health hazard of the 21st-century and sometimes things get just a little bit too much for people to cope with by themselves – and that’s cool!

Something that we’re working towards is implementing an explicit ‘Support Network’ within our research lab; signposting particular individuals in each year as people that others can approach if they have a personal or professional problem during their time at Open Lab. Like a councillor, all discussions will be kept strictly confidential, and can be as formal or as informal as the person seeking assistance would prefer.
